+WHAT IS a Gran Fondo?

A Gran Fondo is a type of long-distance road cycling ride originating in Italy in 1970, and roughly translates into English as "Big Ride". A Gravel Gran Fondo is a long-distance gravel cycling ride.

+What kind of bike can I ride in a Gravel Fondo?

A gravel ride can be ridden on a mountain bike, hybrid bike and a new fangled Gravel Bike. Road bikes are not suitable for a gravel ride.

+How far will I have to ride to participate?

The Gravel Fondo will have three ride lengths: 80km, 56km and 34km, a length for every fitness level.

+Is this a race?

This event is not a race, it is a tour of rural roads up the Bruce Peninsula. The race will not be timed. But for those that are interested in thier time we have set up a Strava Segment.

+WHAT IS THE COST OF ENTRY?

80km: Register by August 1: $75.00; August 2 - September 15: $85; September 16th - October 5: $90.

56 Km: Register by August 1: $70.00 August 2 - September 15 $80. September 16 - October 5: $85.

35 Km Register by August 1: $60.00 August 2 - September 15: $65. September 16 - October 5: $70.

Online registration closes on Friday, October 5th at 5 pm, EST. Registration does not include HST and Zone4 Admin Fees

+Our Cause - the Protecting the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere

All funds raised by the Fondo will go to the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association (a charitable non-profit organization) to undertake environmental projects on the Bruce

+CAN I SWITCH MY ENTRY TO A DIFFERENT DISTANCE (EG. 80km to 56km)?

You can change your distance from a longer distance to a shorter distance at no extra charge. This can be done right up until event weekend by contacting us at the 2019 Bruce Peninsula Gravel Gran Fondo Package Pick-Up. You can also change your distance from a shorter distance to a longer distance at the cost of the difference in registration price between the two distances. This can be done right up until event weekend by contacting us at the Gran Fondo package pick-up Desk on October 5th.

+WHEN/WHERE CAN I PICK UP MY REGISTRATION INFORMATION?

You may pick up your rider package at the Rotary Hall on 59 Main Street Lions Head, on Saturday Oct 5th between 5:00 pm-9:00 pm. and on Sunday, October 6th between 7-8 am.59 Main Street Lions Head, On

+WILL EVENT WAIVERS BE AVAILABLE IN ADVANCE? CAN I PICK-UP A FRIEND’S RIDE PACKAGE?

Our policies require that you sign an official 2019 event waiver in the presence of our staff/volunteers at Package Pick-Up. In other words, event waivers are not available online in advance. As well, this requirement means that you cannot pick up the registration of another rider (i.e. a friend or family member).

+I AM UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS YEAR’S EVENT, CAN I GET A REFUND?

Sorry no refunds are available, Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Associan will issue a charitable tax receipt for the entrance fee.

+WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH MY GRAN FONDO ENTRY FEE?

A fully supported ride on some of the most scenic roads on the Bruce Peninsula..

+WHAT IS THE MINIMUM RIDER AGE FOR REGISTRATION?

A rider aged between 14 and 18 years of age is considered a youth rider. Rider age is the age of the rider on the day of the event (October 6th, 2019). Riders under 14 are not eligible to enter. All youth riders must have: the consent of a parent or guardian; some experience of group riding; a solid understanding of road riding safety and etiquette;their waiver signed by parent/guardian at Package Pick-Up; and present proof of age and photo ID at Package Pick-Up.

+WHAT’S THE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS?

You may pick up your rider package at the Rotary Hall (59 Main Street)in downtown Lions Head Saturday Oct 5th between 5:00 pm - 9 pm. and at he Lion"s Head Arena (4 Tachabury Street), on Sunday, October 6th between 7-8 am.

Be ready to start at 9:00 am, we recommend you arrive to the Lions Head Arena (4 Tackabury Street) at 8:30 am at the latest. Lunch and refreshments at the Lions Head Arena 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

+WHAT KIND OF WEATHER SHOULD I EXPECT?

The average temperature in Lions Head on October 6th is 16 C.
